School Meals

Hot school meals may be purchased online from Sue Brady Catering via their website.

Packed lunches may be brought in from home. We try to make the mealtime a pleasant and social experience. Please make sure children have their drink in an unbreakable container. Fizzy drinks are NOT suitable as they are liable to be shaken up in transit.

Through a Government scheme, KSI children will be provided with a snack at playtime. KS2 children may bring a snack for mid-morning break – preferably a piece of fruit.  Sweets and crisps should be kept for home consumption.

Free school meals

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to Universal Infant Free School Meals.  To claim Free School meals for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children, please contact the School Office to obtain the necessary code.

Your child may be entitled to free school meals if you are in receipt of certain benefits. These include Income Support, Income based Job Seekers Allowance and Child Tax Credit amongst others. Even if your child is in KS1, please apply as the school receives additional funding (Pupil Premium) for every child entitled to income related free school meals. You can ask at the school office for a form, or you can apply online here

School Milk

Our school provides a milk scheme that is available to all of our pupils.  School milk is free for all under-fives and is subsidised for pupils aged five or older.  To register your child, please visit Cool Milk or download a form to return to Cool Milk here.

If your child is under 5, just register by a Tuesday 5pm for your child’s free milk to start the following week.  Free milk will continue until the Friday before your child’s fifth birthday.  You will receive a payment request three weeks before this time – if you wish your child to continue to receive school milk, simply make a payment.

If your child is over 5, complete a registration form or register online.  Shortly after registering you will receive a payment request.  You can pay Cool Milk either online, over the phone, at a local PayPoint or by cheque in half-termly, termly or annual instalments.  Please pay by Tuesday 5pm for your child’s milk to start the following week.

It is very important to drink plenty of water as this helps our brains work better. At Great Bedwyn  School we encourage children to bring in a named water bottle to use during the day. Only water should be drunk regularly in this way.

Children may drink squash, juice or milk at lunch time if parents wish. Water is available at lunchtime for all children.
