Personal Development Curriculum

Together may we give our children – roots to grow and wings to fly.

At Great Bedwyn CE School, we have a robust Personal Development Curriculum that is deeply embedded and permeates all areas of school life.

Personal Development is rooted in all areas of school life.  Children are nurtured, supported and encouraged by peers, staff and community volunteers to be the best they can be, and to live out their Christian values.  Every part of our curriculum is delivered with our six Christian values running through – Forgiveness, Love, Respect, Friendship, Courage, Responsibility.

Intent

Personal Development at Great Bedwyn School has a multi layered approach.  We want our children to learn how they can contribute and thrive in the wider community and become responsible global citizens.  The Personal Development initiative at Great Bedwyn CE School is more than a curriculum. It encompasses the uniqueness that all children, parents and staff value and often try to express in words. In addition, the activities and community events that form the tapestry of school life further enhances children’s personal development, and behaviour and attitudes.
From the children’s earliest days at school, they are welcomed into the school family where they begin to develop a sense of belonging which grows as their learning journey progresses. Regardless of their age, children are nurtured, supported and encouraged by peers, staff and community volunteers to be the best they can be and to live out their Christian values. In return, children learn how they can contribute and thrive in the wider community and become responsible global citizens.

Implementation

Through the enriched curriculum, all children at Great Bedwyn CE School have opportunities to develop personal qualities that will enable them to grow in confidence and independence, where they feel valued and respected, and their beliefs and culture are welcomed. We embrace and celebrate diversity so that every child feels confident and believes in themselves.

All children are provided with a wealth of enrichment activities and events throughout their school journey that enables them to develop knowledge of core qualities that will empower them to flourish and succeed in life.
